Was most recently a Technology Leader with AT&T Labs Research. Before that, until 1994, he was a Technical Director in the Networking Business Unit and a Consulting Engineer in the Network Architecture group at Digital Equipment Corporation. Dr. Ramakrishnan has extensive experience in the networking industry, and has been an active contributor in both the IETF and the ATM Forum.
Dr. Ramakrishnan has more than 20 years of experience in computer and communication networks and has made fundamental contributions to the development of network architectures and standards. His contributions have enhanced Ethernet, FDDI, ATM, and DOCSIS technologies and products, the Internet Protocol suite, IP Telephony architectures, UNIX, VMS and other operating system implementations of the networking subsystem. He has been a speaker at Interop and many ACM and IEEE conferences. Dr. Ramakrishnan has published more than 100 papers, holds 47 patents, and has several pending.
Dr. Ramakrishnan obtained his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Maryland, College Park in 1983. He also has an M.E. in Automation from the Indian Institute of Science, India and a M.S. in Computer Science from the University of Maryland.
